Library of Litter is Launched!

LIBRARY OF LITTER is designed to be used during a lockdown. You can visit via the online exhibition, via the 'Ground Level Interference' Soundwalks, or via the window exhibition at Coventry ArtSpace Arcadia Gallery, CV1 3HW.

Augmented Reality can be downloaded from this LINK or scanned from QR codes stuck next to the postcards at the gallery.

Library of Litter draws together a notion of a library as a body of always moving and changing parts that leave and return in a process of gathering and regathering with the activity of littering within ecosystems; as a scattering and regurgitating of matter which is fundamental to ecosystems and to lifecycles. Comparing this with contemporary human attitudes to the objects we no longer want and our broken relationship with our ecosystem.

Library of Litter was produced by Janet Tryner during her graduate art residency with Coventry Artspace 2019/20.

Janet uses a range of techniques and media to try to uncover connections between land, ecosystems and human culture at ground level, with a forensic approach that leads her to repeatedly revisit the objects she has found. She viewed her residency as an opportunity to test the methods she developed during her degree, and made a series of investigations into Coventry’s land; exploring it by field-walking, then examining and documenting her finds in her art.

Exhibition postcards can be picked up at the gallery. If you would like one and can't get one there, please contact us via this page and we will pop one in the post to you.
